Out-of-Town Patient Support
At CIBO Clinic, we provide the most comprehensive out-of-town patient support program for Lap-Band surgery patients in Canada. Our program is conducted without the need for travel or additional expense on your part.
At CIBO Clinic, you can achieve the results you want when you are prepared, educated and supported every step of the way in your weight loss journey.
We take every measure necessary to ensure you’re ready for Lap-Band surgery – medically, physically, emotionally and psychologically. We know it’s a big step, and we feel we haven’t done our job unless you’re fully prepared. Here are the steps you will take with us before you undergo Lap-Band surgery.
Patient Questionnaire
Patients interested in a consultation are asked to complete a Patient Questionnaire and
- email us
- fax us 1-866-203-3131
- mail it to 1131A Leslie Street, Suite 300, Toronto, Ontario, M3C 3L8
When we receive your questionnaire a patient coordinator will contact you to arrange your initial consultation.
Initial Consultation
Once you have decided to explore Lap-Band surgery and the CIBO Clinic approach, you will have a telephone or Skype consultation with our Director or Patient Services, a successful Lap-Band patient herself for over ten years, will help to answer all your questions, direct you to accurate, credible resources and ensure that your individual needs are met.
Pre-operative Instructions
After your initial consultation, our Patient Coordinators will assist you with all the necessary arrangements for the procedure. A detailed program binder of information that contains pre-operative instructions will be sent to you. Our Patient Coordinators will also provide you with telephone and email support prior to your Lap-Band procedure date.
Talk with our Lap-Band Surgeon
At CIBO Clinic, we want to ensure that you are in optimal medical conditionto undergo Lap-Band surgery. During your medical assessment, we’ll conduct a thorough review of your medical history. We will assess other possible health issues (or co-morbidities) associated or impacted by your weight, such as type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, arthritis and hypertension. We arrange for you to speak to your surgeon who will also discuss the potential benefits, risks and complications of Lap-Band surgery during your telephone consultation.
Talk with our Psychotherapist
We have learned that achieving sustainable, long-term weight loss requires a comprehensive approach that includes psychological support for our patients before and after Lap-Band surgery. That’s why, during the pre-op assessment phase, we schedule a one-on-one, hour-long discussion with our staff psychotherapist. Jennifer Walsh, will review your behavioural questionnaire with you and evaluate your readiness for Lap-Band surgery. She’ll discuss with you, any emotional hurdles you may be facing as a result of your weight – or any issues that may be at the core of your weight problem.
Talk with our Nutritionist
Another important step in our pre-op assessment is talking with our nutritionist. Jill Hillhouse will review your nutrition questionnaire with you and answer any questions you might have about nutrition and weight loss. Together you will examine and talk about your eating habits and how they will change after Lap-Band surgery. Jill will also take time to educate you on the Lap-BandPre-op dietand discuss with you Post-Op dietary instructions, until you reach optimum restriction,so that you can achieve your personal weight loss goals.
Travel Arrangements
When your Lap-Band procedure date is scheduled you will be asked to make your travel arrangements and contact us with the details. We ask that you arrive one day prior to your procedure.
Airport Pick-up
When we receive your travel details, CIBO Clinic will make arrangements for you to be picked up from the airport and bring you to the hotel you’ll be staying at before and after your procedure.
Hotel Accommodations
Your hotel accommodations are taken care of by CIBO Clinic the day before and for two days after your Lap-Band procedure. We even take care of your transportation to and from the clinic so you’ll have no stress before and after your procedure.
Post-procedure Lap-Band Adjustments
CIBO Clinic has a network of physicians across Canada who provide Lap-Band adjustments to our out-of-town patients. When adjustments are required, we talk with you about the amount required and send direction to your doctor.
